This is Manny's goal. However, despite perceived advantages over Clottey, Pacquiao isn’t about to get complacent. The Filipino boxing hero will surely have a hard time against the Ghana-native boxer. Clottey is definitely a tough guy to knock out. He is strong, big puncher with an iron chin. He stands 5' 8” and is a natural welterweight, while Pacquiao, is 5' 6” and last fought at a 145-pound catch weight.
Compiling a record of 35-3 with 20 KOs, the 33-year-old Clottey has never been knocked out. He is a quick-fisted, accurate counter puncher with good jab and has excellent left hook. He stalks his opponents behind a tight, high-handed defense. Trying to penetrate Clottey’s guard is no easy job for the Pacman.
On the other hand, Pacquiao is not going to be a standing target for Clottey either. Manny has 50 wins against 3 losses. The Pacman is a very fast hard-punching southpaw. He uses rapid in-and-out and side-to-side movement to set up his killer left hook in a lightning fashion.
Clottey's chin is strong and can absorb power punches. Manny should not look for an early knockout. He should not engage in a serious affair with Clottey in early rounds for the latter is a physical fighter and at times dirty. It is too dangerous to get caught by Clottey's solid punches. By using his speed, Manny should just try to out punch his opponent. Clottey will have a hard time planting his feet to mount any type of sustained attack if Pacquiao will stick to his game plan — make rapid stinging jabs and side-to-side movements,
But clottey for sure won't give Pacquiao an easy fight. Winning this fight would lead Clottey to instant fame thus he will give all his best. With his very high defense, Clottey will pressure Pacquiao with rapid blows and accurate counter punches. However, he won't be able to land a very damaging blow to Pacman from that defensive stance. If Clotty stick to this tactic throughout the fight, Pacquiao will knock him out on the 10th round.
Of course, nothing is really certain on the face of earth. Who knows it might be an upset. But one thing is sure this match will be one of the best boxing event and is a must see fight of the year. It will be held at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on March 13. So what are you waiting for? Buy your ticket now!
