Did you know that the blue whales can hold their breath up to an hour? The blue whales, the largest creatures to have ever lived on earth, are warm-blooded mammals that must breathe air. Also considered as the loudest animal on earth, the blue whales could grow to be about 80 feet (25 m) long on average, weighing about 120 tons (109 tonnes). Their heart alone can weigh as much as an automobile.
Despite their enormous size the blue whales are virtually harmless to humans. They are gentle giants we’ve come to respect, admire and protect.
